Do you want to become more aware? Nature Journaling is about observation which is a skill used in every subject and is a major life skill. We will study nature through the eyes of science, literature and more while practicing how to observe. This is an activity that your whole family can do!

About Learning Through Nature

In Learning Through Nature, we will explore a range of ecosystems (the crack in a sidewalk to a forest path) to build transferable thinking skills. How can we encourage a connection between our academic growth and our emotional well-being? How do we engage with nature and learn more about ourselves? How do you help your student become a keen observer while developing foundational skills?

This Working Group will:

  • Build transferable thinking skills as students use journals to think critically and creatively for themselves.
  • Help students identify and learn more about questioning and wonders.
  • Help students identify and learn more about questioning and wonders.
  • Develop scientific thinking through: investigation, recording data, note-taking, and drawing.

By the end, you will have practiced some journaling techniques with your student, participated in a nature study, received expert feedback, learned with a supportive group, and will be ready to continue the journey. Parents will be able to walk away with the confidence to teach, explore, wonder and continue in a lifelong activity that will inspire!

Appropriate for parents with children K-12th grade.
