About The Mystery of the Missing Honeymoon Couple

For parents / caregivers and students in Middle - High School. Have you ever thought about being an investigator? Practice your investigation skills while learning more about inquiry science. 

In this working group, we will investigate the real mystery of a missing honeymoon couple, Bessie and Glen Hyde, who disappeared while rafting in the Grand Canyon in 1928. You will analyze the evidence and propose a theory as to what happened. What exactly happened to the Hyde's on their honeymoon? On October 20th, 1928 Glen R. Hyde and Bessie, his new wife, began their honeymoon by embarking on an adventure few dared to undertake at that time; running the rapids of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Can you help solve the mystery?

    About Your Facilitator: Jen Gibson

    Jen Gibson is the co-founder of BUOY Consultants, an education partnership agency that focuses on implementation, instruction and social-emotional learning in K-12 schools. As a 25-year veteran educator, Jen has been a long time outdoor enthusiast and naturalist designing programs that integrate curriculum with nature. From outdoor expeditions to investigations, Jen has partnered with Santa Barbara Channel Keeper, Science Matters, Sedwick Reserve, The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre, Kids in Nature to help develop programs and curriculum.
